These visual novels and game concepts are projects I have been working on in the current year.

"Piecekeeper" - Lead Narrative Designer & Game WriterThis class project is a visual novel inspired by the Egyptian Mythological story of Osiris and Isis.This design document features both my own writing, featuring a side quest story and the three endings to the visual novel, as well as collaborative work we developed as a team, which includes a detailed character sheet for our main character Isis, and a world building document.

“The Veil Between” - Solo Narrative Designer & Writer'The Veil Between' is a solo-developed visual novel concept about a paranormal researcher.This design document includes all the writing I have done so far, such as Hanae’s character sheet and a short story for the main love interest, Kento.

About Me

Hey there!My name is Ellie Carroll, I am a game writer and narrative designer, who is always looking to collaborate on any new projects!I have always been passionate about writing and want to explore content creation through video games. My current job is working as a Narrative Intern on the game 'Ascended' where I primarily write missions and quests for the player to go on.Three years ago, I officially established my university's first long-standing Game Design and Development Club, and have been the president since. I took a short semester break from presiding over the club to study abroad in Osaka Japan. I was able to grow the club to the point where we recieved funding to send 5 different club members to GDC 2026 where the members were the first UCCS game-focused students to be able to go on an academic trip for networking and learning. Narrative Games

Here is a collection of all of the games I have worked on narratively in a professional, academic, and personal context.

I was able to work as a Narrative & Writer Intern on the game ‘Ascended’, a fantasy inspired exercise game. At this position, I wrote and designed quests, edited missions, learned Unreal Engine, and worked on storytelling through a fantasy lens. (April 2026 - Present)

I got hired on to be a Writer & Narrative Intern at InkBlack Interactive and work on their game ‘Art’s Tiles’. At this position I will write excerpts on the art pieces including accurate historical facts and help choose the next art pieces to be included in the game. (Feb 2026 - Present)

'Piecekeeper' is an Egyptian Mythology-inspired visual novel I had the honor of being the Lead Game Writer and Narrative Designer on. I created the opening sequence, all branching endings, the "Heart Quest", as well as work closely with all my peers in editing their own quest stories. (Aug - Dec 2025)

'The Forbidden Cellar' is a visual novel game I had the pleasure of working on as the editor and proofreader for the Spooktober 2025 Game Jam. Through this project I worked closely with the writer and provided feedback to help create the story. (Sept. - Oct 2025)

'Made With Love' is a solo-developed drag and drop game made within a week. The goal was to create a story told through only art. (Jan. - Feb. 2025)

Extra Games

Here are some of the extra games I have been able to work on through art and game design.

'Discarded' is a cyberpunk card game roguelike. I created card art as temporary placements for the first demo of the game. (Jan - Feb 2026)

'Little Mitts' is a game made for the 2026 Global Game Jam. On this project, I was the lead Narrative Designer and helped lead my team create the overall gameplay design, level design and story. I was also able to help with some pixel art and ending art assets. (Jan 2026)

'Made With Love' is a solo-developed drag and drop game made within a week. The goal was to create a story told through only art. (Jan. - Feb. 2025)

'MagiCafe' is a Magical Girl Café diner dash game that I had the privilege of collaborating on. Working directly with the creator, I created the assets to the right making sure they fit with the main story of the game. (February - May 2025)

'Paths of Mutiny' is a puzzle card game which I created the tile sets for. (February - March 2025)
